Top Ten Tuesday: Most Recommended Books to Me

Hosted by the Broke and the Bookish
Can I just say that I am SO glad to be back to Top Ten Tuesday? Lists are wonderful. Such a wonderful structure and peaceful task to do. Of course, I'm not sure I'll continue to do the Photoshop pictures because, wow, what time-suckers (props to regular Photoshop users). This week we had to compile a list of the most books people recommend to us. Most books on my list are personal recommendations, but some are general and frequent recommendations from blogs I read. In no particular order:

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
While I said there isn't a particular order, Harry Potter is, by far, the most recommended book and series to me. It's been more less of a "hey, you should read this" and more of a "READ THIS, YOU FOOL."

Storm Siren by Mary Weber
I fully intend on reading this as soon as possible. It sounds awesome and one of the people who has recommended this is Lauren. Making her happy would be a plus.

The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner
I KNOW, SHAE.

The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen
So many fantasy lovers love this. I feel so much pressure.

The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas
Ditto.

The Beka Cooper series by Tamora Pierce
It's Tamora! I LOVED Alanna and I've heard Beka rivals her. HOW?

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Two words: RAINBOW. ROWELL.

The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Kate Roric and Bernie Su
The web series was the absolute best, making me fall in love with YouTube. I've heard nonstop recommendations of this since it's more of Lizzie and her world. I need this in my life, I know.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
CUTENESS OVERLOAD. People know I love contemporary.

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordian
I'm not a fan of MG, but so many people love this. I may fudge.

Shadowland by Meg Cabot
Meg Cabot is a contemporary queen so I'm not sure why I haven't read ALL her books especially since people sure do love this series.

  1. GO READ HARRY POTTER RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! The Lightning Thief and Eleanor and Park are also very good. HP should get the precedence, though.

  2. I don't like to do extreme book pushing, but HARRY POTTER. The Queen of Attolia is pretty good. I liked The false prince, but wasn't blown away by it. Percy is also a book that is highly recommended to me.

  3. Excellent list! I haven't read many off of your list, but I can heartily second the recommendation that you read Eleanor & Park and The Lightning Thief. You'll fall in love with the characters. Here's my TTT: http://bookishginger.blogspot.com/2014/08/top-ten-tuesday_19.html Happy reading!

  4. I just finished Isla- it is cute! You are brave to list Harry Potter. I get a lot of flak whenever I list HP on these lists! I considered adding Lizzie Bennett to the list too. My kid really loved Cabot's Mediator series. Good stuff waiting for you on your TBR!

  5. Yes to Percy Jackson. Just yes. I don't always enjoy MG but I just fell in love with the series. I've been recommended Harry Potter a lot too.

  6. I haven't read any of the books on your list. *happy I'm not the only one with Harry Potter on my list* Yeah, most people don't just recommend Harry Potter to me, they usually just go "WHY HAVE YOU NOT READ IT????? YOU NEED TO READ IT NOW!!!!!!!" I have The burning sky on hold at the library, I tried it when it first released and didn't get far into it,, but I think I just wasn't in the mood for that type of book, I'm hoping that I love it this time! (A lot of blogging friends have loved it!) And the Percy Jackson books are on my list, too!

    1. Ha, exactly! Oh, I hate when that happens! I feel like I'm just not in the right mood, but surely, I would love it another time. But I never try because I don't want to be wrong, haha!

  7. Yes to Storm Siren! I wasn't a big fan of Percy Jackson, but eh. If you're like me, Photoshop pics are pretty, but horrible time suckers. I have gotten pretty attached to Riffle lists. They're so easy! :)

  11. The Queen of Attolia! READ IT. It has one of the most perfect ships to ever be in existence and the writing is spectacular and you will laugh and cry and be in awe I PROMISE. And book 3 is EVEN BETTER.
Also, I think you should Storm Siren and The Burning Sky, too. :)

  12. Yes, I'm pretty sure Shae will be happy when I finally get around to reading Megan Whalen Turner's novels. I own one, but I still haven't started! I swear it's going to happen... Anyway, I definitely think you should read Harry Potter (one of my most beloved series)! I also really think you'd enjoy Percy Jackson (I am OBSESSED with these books), as it's really incorporates the mythology so well into a story that's full of action + humor. HAPPY READING! ;)

  13. I'm impressed that you used Photoshop! Like you said, it's a HUGE time sucker, and I feel accomplished if I add a couple straight-from-Goodreads covers to my Top Ten Tuesdays.

As for the books, YES you need to read Harry Potter! I'm not one of those super-fans or anything, but it's prevalent enough that you should read it so you can join in on all the references. I haven't read Eleanor & Park either, and the recommendations are bombarding me as well.
