Top Ten Tuesday - Anticipated Sequels

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Isn't it great when you find a book and become invested? Or when it just becomes a favorite and you like the characters? Well, I think it's just the worst when that great book's sequel doesn't come out until forever. On the plus side, when it's a great book with lovable characters, you can have a fangirl moment when you find out there will be another book.

Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo (Grisha Trilogy #3)- I'll definitely have to reread Siege and Storm because strangely enough, I remember less of that one than Shadow and Bone. I sadly have a while though to do it because it isn't released until a while. Expected publication: June 3, 2014.

Summer State of Mind by Jen Calonita (Whispering Pines #2)- I am incredibly wary of this one. I remember really liking Sleepaway Girls and loving the camp story, but I have a bad feeling about a sequel. A spoiled rich girl coming to the camp and getting help from the former Sleepaway Girls? Could work or could turn out to be really bad. Don't get me wrong, I'll be hunting down a copy as soon as I can. Expected publication: April 22, 2014

Heist Soceity #4 by Ally Carter -  No synopsis, no cover, no expected publication date. But dangnabbit, I am going to find out what Hale's Ws stand for!

The Naturals #2 by Jennifer Lynn Barnes - Once again, no synopsis, no cover, and no publication date. The first one is actually released TODAY (go buy a copy!), but man, I still am itching to get my hands on the sequel.

Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi (Under the Never Sky #3) - Perry! Roar! Aria! Friendship! Loss! Love! If you haven't read this series yet, I recommend you do so now. Expected publication: January 28, 2014.

Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman (Seraphina #2) - I didn't realize until making this list that this sequel doesn't come out until forever. She's probably a perfectionist writer, wanting to take her time, which I can respect. On the other hand, this is ridiculous. Expected publication: March 2015 (!!!!)

Cress by Marissa Meyer (The Lunar Chronicles #3) - I made a Wishlist Wednesday about it this past week. Basically, this is one of my most anticipated books. Expected publication: February 4, 2014.

This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner (Starbound #2) - The first book, These Broken Stars, isn't even out yet so the wait for this one will feel like forever, but it will be worth it. Expected publication: 2014.

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me #3) - WARNER!!! and Kenji! Expected publication: February 4, 2014.

A special #10:

Full House sequel - Extreme fangirling. You guys, I watched at least an episode a day (well, more like two because it's like eating cookies; you can't just eat ONE cookie and stop) growing up. I finally stopped that habit sometime in high school because after so many years, my family basically begged me to stop. I rewatched their last curtain call many times and YES it made me emotional, I possibly teared up. I refuse to think that this will fail.

What sequels are you excited about? Do we share any?

  2. I need Ruin and Rising! Sturmhond better be in it or else I'll be extremely upset. I didn't know there was going to be a sequel for The Naturals! AH! Now I'm excited :D
Cress and Into the Still Blue made it on to my list as well because I just need them so bad!

    1. Oh, yes, he better be! YES. Before I even read the book, I was at a book even with Ally Carter and she mentioned this and said that she was already wanting the sequel. Besides, she ends it on such a good sequel note.
      Yes!

  4. Oh my goodness, that W is the bane of my existence, and I both love and hate Ally Carter for keeping us in such suspense/torture. We had better find out what it stands for soon. :) I also second Ignite Me because WARNER and Tahereh Mafi's WORDS and wonderfulness. I need this book now.

I hope all these sequels live up to your hopes! The only thing worse than waiting for a sequel is being disappointed by one, but all of these sound promising.

    1. W? Am I missing something? I like your whole paragraph because I keep nodding my head.

Oh, definitely. I basically have a little bit of hesitation for all these.

  5. Ignite Me and Cress! Those two are making everyone's lists (including mine!)
I can't wait to read ItSB. I have an eGalley but I'm waiting for a print ARC to arrive and then I'll read it :)
OMG Ruin and Rising. Sturmhond! I need this book ASAP.
    Awesome list :)

    1. DO ITTTT. It really was. The best read (besides GG6) that I've read all year.

  7. WARNER! This Shattered World! Roar and Perry! Sturmhond!!! I want them all! Great list! I keep seeing everyone's and realizing if I'd included every one I'm excited for, my list would have been like 100 books long and counting. It's insane...I'll never get to them all!

    1. Haha yes! I stupidly forgot such key ones, but I'm kinda glad I did otherwise it would have taken forever to do this.

  8. I'm convinced that the the world will stop on both February 4th and June 3rd, because there's nothing that could possibly be more important than getting copies of Ignite Me and Ruin and Rising. I need those books in my life now!! Also really excited for Into The Still Blue. 2014 is the year of sequels. :D

  9. Minions! :) Summer State of mind is on my list this week as well! I get why you're wary of it, though. When I first read the summary and saw the words "spoiled rich girl" it made me a little nervous too. That kind of character is one I don't really like, even if by the end of the book they have changed. I'm just going to continue to hope I'll love it, because I loved the first book so much!

I really want to read The Naturals! Also, These Broken Stars!

FULL HOUSE!!! I watched it a lot when I was little, and recently I started watching it again! That news is just, YES! :D

  10. The minions gif is just perfect! :) I agree with so many of these, especially Cress, The Shattered World, The Naturals #2, and Heist #4! I also had no idea that The Sleepaway Girls was going to have a sequel! I'm not a fan of the whole pretty little rich girl plot, but it's by Jen Calonita, so I'm still going to put it on my TBR list! :)

  12. The 4th Heist Society book is going to be so amazing! I hope Ally Carter writes this series for a very long time. Also, Ignite Me is probably my most anticipated book of next year. I really want the series to have a great ending :)

  13. Some great series! I am still dying to start Cinder and Shatter Me!!! They both look amazing and I've heard some really great things about both. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who picked books without names, titles or covers - The Naturals #2 also made my list!

  15. I have so many upcoming sequels that I'm dying to get my hands on too! Ruin and Rising and Ignite Me would definitely be on my list too, I'm so glad to see that you're a Warner fan too *fist pump* but I also can't wait for Laini Taylors Dreams of Gods and Monsters! Great picks once again Sunny! :)

    1. *fist pumps back* I haven't read any of Laini Taylor's books! Thank you!

  16. WHAT?! There's going to be a sequel to Full House?!? How did I not know about that? I'm so excited now. Thank you for sharing that and including the link :D That show still comes on at night. After I've watched all my shows that are airing each day, I'll flip to whatever channel it is (ABC Family, Nick? I can't remember) and watch it until I get tired. I've seen all these episodes and I could still watch them 10 more times.

Back to books :) I finally got around to reading the Shatter Me series. The first book was good, but not necessarily the best thing I ever read. I literally just finished UNRAVEL ME 15 minutes ago and absolutely loved it. It was so much better than the first book. I can tell that Mafi is going to be one of those authors who get better with each book. I'm going to talk about this in my review next week but since you mentioned it, I want to gossip with you. Okay, I loved Adam in SM. He was so sweet and mysterious and it made me so happy that he and Juliette could have a somewhat normal human relationship. I despised Warner. HATED him. But then Mafi goes and writes UM. This is a whole new side to Warner. Now I'm like gushing over him, basically. But I'm still torn between the two of them!

    1. So totally agree. It really never gets old.

Wow, I felt the opposite actually! I really liked Shatter Me and was meh about Unravel Me. I love how opinions vary! Bookish gossip is good :) Okay, I felt somewhat the same way. Adam felt...forced in SM? I had a weird vibe with him, but I still kinda liked it. I wasn't like OMG WARNER in SM, but then I read the novella, Destroy Me, and turned to Warner's side. I thought about it more and realized how Adam was kinda annoying. Then UM and wow. I'm like you, I'm gushing over Warner. However, I really, really don't like Adam after UM. I felt like he was the boy version of what I hear Bella Swan was like (that may be unfair for me to say since I haven't read Twilight, only heard LOTS about it). That's why Kenji was a redeeming factor of UM because he basically mocked Adam and snapped Juliette out of her whiny mess. I'm really excited to see how you feel about IM!

  17. Huh, I didn't know there was a Full House sequel- not that I ever watched it, but still. Interesting.

I'm most excited for The Retribution of Mara Dyer, because I really enjoy that series and each book ends on quite a huge cliffhanger, so I'm very keen to see what happens. I hope the characters get closure, of some kind. Maybe a little happiness that is lasting.
Also, whilst I've only read (or rather, listened to on audio) the first Heist Society book, I'm super excited to continue the series- hopefully I'm up to date when the fourth comes out. Slightly sad to hear the Ws haven't been explained yet!

    1. You...you never...WATCHED IT?! *grabs at heart*

Ooh, I've heard of the series (it always seems to be on a TTT list) and I keep meaning to read it. It's exciting that you like it so much and that you can't wait to see what happens. But d'oh on the big cliffhangers. Maybe it's good that I've waited so long so then I can have them all near me.
I hope so too because they really are fantastic! My favorite may be the latest one, the third, Perfect Scoundrels. I know, I was really looking forward to it and wondered if it would be revealed in the 3rd. Alas, more waiting.

  18. Into the Still Blue was wonderful. I love that series! I can't wait for the Grisha Trilogy is out because I'm not going to pick up the series until then. I hear nothing but great things about it. I'm excited for Burned by Karen Marie Moning to come out. She keeps pushing back the date, though! So annoying. Anyways, great list Sunny! :)

    1. Smart idea! I do that (uh, kinda accidentally sometimes) with series because I know I'll be a raving maniac if I can't have the next book. Aw man, that really stinks! I haven't heard of it, but I would get frustrated at the delay.

  19. Into the Still and Ruin and Rising are probably the two that I'm most looking forward to from this list! I'm more nervous about Ignite Me than excited, but I'm hoping everyone will love it so that I can know it's safe to pick up. ;) I'm also eager to get my hands on the next Raven Cycle book, as well as Isla and the Happily Ever Ever. Oh, and the next Crown of Midnight book. Eeee! It's so exciting just thinking about them all. :)

  20. I've heard Ally Carter's second series is awesome. I'll probably start it after I read the last GG book! :)

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
