Top Ten Tuesday: Swoon-worthy Books

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
Did somebody say SWOONS? I do swoons. I swoon for fictional characters, I swoon for non-fictional (not as fun), I like swooning, I like reading about swooning, I swoon in groups...swoon is just a fun word and a fun thing to do. Ironically enough—I blame the pressure of it all—I kept blanking on items for this list so I know I left out key books.

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
I just finished reading this one and I might have been giggling like a schoolgirl.

Unravel Me by Taherah Mafi
CHAPTER 62

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
My heart.

Alienated by Melissa Landers
I don't think anyone could read how the L'heirs show affection without swooning.

Forever Princess by Meg Cabot
The tension between Michael and Mia throughout made me knot up. But it was all worth it when it came time to the carriage scene.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
So much awkward love.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
[insert one of many oven/fire/bread jokes here]

The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
HECTOOOOR

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Mal. The Darkling. Then we get Sturmhond in the sequel! Three options means triple the swoon-age!

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
I had a lovely, yet heartbreaking time while reading about Celeana and Chaol.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
The great thing about this is that she creates another swoon-worthy couple in the sequel.

Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen

Everneath by Brodi Ashton
It was hard to not be Team Cole in this one, I didn't even try.

As you could see, while I felt like I had trouble remembering important swoon-y books, I went over 10. No regrets.

What are some books that made you swoon?

  3. Ooh another vote for chapter 62! I haven't read the book yet but maybe if I start with that chapter it will inspire me to read the rest :) Crown of Midnight, Fangirl and TFIOS are faves of mine too. Thanks for sharing your swoony faves! That Aladdin gif is perfect :)

  5. I feel embarrassed to admit that I have not read any of the books on your list. *blushes* After reading peoples TTT this week, I feel the need to bump up Alienated on my TBR list! I want to feel all the swoons people are talking about! :)

And I felt the same way about forgetting books this week! I know I forgot a few good ones, I just don't remember them all! :)

  8. Yay Hunger Games!

So I know there are Princess Diaries (book) sequels... are they anything like the second movie, or are they much better? I haven't read the first Princess Diaries book yet either, but I'm just curious. It made me sad that she liked Michael and then in the second movie he was no where to be found.

  9. Totally agree about Unravel Me! Phew, that was one swoon-y book :) And while I didn't LOVE Fangirl, I still definitely swooned a little bit over Levi. He's totally exactly the kind of guy that I would date in real life.

  10. Oh my gosh Sunny I have to agree with you you on so many books here, I wish I had done this list!! I love loved chapter 62 in Unravel Me, it was so unexpected, but utterly gorgeous, I do find myself going to re-read that chapter from time to time. I also loved Forever Princess, in fact the entire Princess Diaries series, Mia and Michael's relationship was so amazing and heartbreaking, I really wish Meg would go back and visit this fantastic series!!

  11. I loved Grave Mercy. And Dark Triumph as well - theirs was a understated but definitely swoon worthy romance.

  12. I love that you can just say "Chapter 62," and every Shatter Me fan will know what you're talking about. :) I definitely agree with that selection, along with Forever Princess, The Hunger Games, and Everneath. I'm Team Jack, though - there's something about being a death deity that gives you that "bad boy" vibe that I never like. Plus Cole is so pushy - true, he has different circumstances than mortals, but asking someone to give up her entire life is kind of a lot. I need to get reading the rest of the swoon-worthy fantasies on your list!

  13. Oh, gawd, yes, what was happening between Nix and Ignifex in Cruel Beauty definitely had me swooning. And Levi and Cath...awkward love is the best kind because it's soooo like that most of the time. :) Hector, Chaol, Robin, the Darkling and Sturmhond. You can't go wrong with any of those! Such swoonworthy rogues, the lot of them! :D I was a Cole shipper, too, even though I knew where Nikki's heart lay, or with whom, I should say. Great list!!!
