Rewind and Review: January 2015

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
My head feels like it's spinning. School started, I've made a trip every weekend (either to home for doctor visits or other places I can do my laundry at), and I've already done one emergency dance party in my dorm room thanks to the the stress of it all. Which reminds me that I need to reread Fangirl (bless you, Rowell) asap after I finish all the pretties I received!

For review:

Purchases:
  • All Fall Down by Ally Carter (I couldn't NOT buy an Ally Carter book)
  • The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna ($2 hardcover from my local thrift store!)

Books I read: 5 (but I still have quite a few days to add more to that total)

What I'm reading now/next: Pretty much all the books I just received.

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) happenings:
  • I started the spring semester at college and it is CRAZY. Lots of relative classes to my major, but I'm still only semi-used to everything.
  • I'm reaffirmed that group projects are horrible. I can work well with others, but when it comes to college students and grades, getting work done is hopeless.
  • BOOK NEWS: Kody Klepinger is coming out with Lying Out Loud, which sounds like the perfect rom-com. It's a companion to The DUFF and her other novels. *grabby hands*
  • But wait, there's more! You can enter in a giveaway for it along with a movie tie-in edition of The DUFF here
  • I started watching the Harry Potter movies and I'm not sure how to feel.
How's your 2015 been going so far? And who do you want to win the superbowl?

Rewind & Review: July 28 - August 31

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
I'm trying to get back to normalcy as much as possible so while I don't have much to recap on, I need to go back to my regular scheduling. This is college does to you apparently. I haven't gone to college parties or been the stereotypical student in movies, but I have socialized and stayed up late and was thrown into something so overwhelmingly new. So, yeah, it's been hectic.

I haven't received anything, but...
  • My mother sent me TWO packages, mostly of things I forgot at home, but sweet little surprised were there too. I needed those peanut butter pretzels (and the clothes I forgot).
  • My dad surprised me with a quick trip (he had a meeting close by) and a visit to Starbucks.

I don't even want to talk about what I've read because I actually haven't read anything. I can't. I can't believe I even wrote that. ACTUALLY, I did read Roomies by Sara Zarr and Tara Altebrando. But that's it. And I'm incredibly sad.

I will be reading:

Past blog posts:

They're on the righthand-side. Near the area where you can sign up for emails. Hint, hint.

Upcoming posts:
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Who I'd Like at My Lunch Table
  • At some point, I'll be posting my review for Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I'm rooting for Thursday.
  • I won't even try to list more because at this point, who knows.

Happenings:
  • CHANGES
  • Follow me on Twitter (here) and Instagram (here) and you'll know. It's been too long to attempt to rehash.

As you can see, my life is a little up in the air right now. I have semi-structure, but definitely not in a permanent state. This week will be even harder since my best friend is coming up Wednesday and I go home Thursday to help for my brother's wedding (which happens Saturday).

Next week (I won't even try this week), I'm attempting normalcy! Scheduled posts, regularly commenting on others' blogs, reading...it's going to happen I hope.

Do you have anything I need to catch up on? What books have you read?

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

I'm 18 years old today, an official adult, and that means I'm entering into a whole new world of responsibility, I guess.

Basically, I still choose to believe that everything will go on as it is instead of the complete doom that I'm dreading. Right? RIGHT?

Books I received:
  • Fire by Kristin Cashore (Thank you, Emma!)

Books I read: 1...and DNFs

What I'm reading now/next:
  • Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid (unfortunately, right now, I'm getting lost...away from it, ugh)

Past Blog Posts:

  • Review: On the Fence by Kasie West
  • Happy Birthday to Me Giveaway!
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I'd Want with Me on a Deserted Island

Upcoming Blog Posts:
  • TBA - Due to indecision and craziness

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • I was interviewed on Lit Up Review for their Teen Blogging feature this summer!
  • I'm finally getting into Emma Approved. KNIGHTLEY <3
  • Okay, I lied, I never went to B&N, but only because I forgot. Next time...hopefully.
  • I made the most upsell of the month at my job and got employee of the week!
  • The winner of my giveaway this past week is Marlene from Flyleaf Review
  • Like I said...I'M 18 YEARS OLD TODAY. Adult status, ya'll. Since we're celebrating my birthday during lunch, I won't be getting presents until later. Presents with the possibility of new books. We'll see!

Rewind & Review: June 30 - July 13

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
I liked the beach when I was younger, but it was one of those things for me that I liked it more when I was THERE. The thought of it made me groan. Well, we went to Ft. Lauderdale during the week of Fourth of July and that beach was beautiful. I also was able to escape life so if I could permanently escape it and live at the beach, I'll be fine with that. Just let me take my books.

Books I received this week:

Books I read: a bunch of halves

What I'm reading now/next:
  • Top Ten Inspired: TV Fangirling
  • Review: On the Fence by Kasie West
  • Happy Birthday to Me Giveaway
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I'd Like to Be Deserted With
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Preview: Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
*Subject to change

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • My roommate FINALLY replied back and it turns out she's an engineer. I'm rooming with smarty pants. I'm already intimidated.
  • TRISH DOLLER works at my local B&N. There will be pictures in the next R&R.
  • My family of girls (consisting of one mother, two sisters, and me) hosted a bridal shower for my future sister-in-law in three weeks notice. We survived.

Retro picture
I was looking through old journals and I tried to find a picture of me near the time I started my FIRST journal at six years old. This was off by just a week or two!

Rewind & Review: June 15 - June 29

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
These past two weeks have been...un-summery, or non-summery, whichever one. Shouldn't summertime be fun? I'd like to consider ME, this Summer, to be fun. But I find myself looking forward to the start of school, not only because I'm moving, but also because I seem to get more things done in the fall/spring. Summertime makes me agitated. School orientation, work, worrying, work, sleeping, work, and more BLAH. Thankfully, we have nice publishers in the world.

Books I Received:

Books I've Read: 2?

What I'm Reading Now/Next:

Upcoming Blog Posts:*
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Classics
  • Review: The Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne
  • Then and Now: What Do You Want to Be?
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Blogging Confessions
  • Thank you, Morgan Matson
  • Review: On the Fence by Kasie West
*Subject to change

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • I had orientation for my university and I realized I'm a school dork. The best part of it all was registering for classes!
  • I loved my book mail. Publishers rock.
  • I put so many amazing books on hold at the library for my vacation next week. Open Road Summer, Wild Magic, A Mad Wicked, Folly...just to name a few!
  • I RAN A 5K! I've done an unofficial one in my neighborhood before, but this time, I did the Neon Vibe 5k with one of my childhood best friends. Tutus and neon colors, ya'll.
Then we celebrated with food.
How's your summer been?

Rewind & Review: May 17 - June 15

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
As you can see, it's been a while since a recap, a little less than a month. I took about a week off since I was already aloof on social media anyways. That was my FIRST break since I started in October of 2012. I needed that. I'm still not posting much, but it's just the right amount for me. There's no competition so *I* am the one that matters when it comes to my blog, right? Right. But man, I've gotten  BOOKS!

Books You Received:

Books I Read: 4

What I'm Reading Now/Next:

Upcoming Blog Posts:
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Summer TBR
  • Waiting on Wednesday #8
  • DNF Review: Tease by Amanda Maciel
  • Then and Now: What Do You Want to Be?
  • Review: Summer of Yesterday by Gaby Triana
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Cover Trends
  • Review: Since You've Been Gone

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • My future sister-in-law had her bridal shower...her FIRST one. There'll be a second in July. It's starting to feel a little weird that my brother will be married.
  • As you can see up top, I like being whitelisted by Harper Teen.
  • I interviewed Livia Blackburne and hosted a giveaway for her debut. The WINNER is Meghan Hawk! Congrats, Meghan, check your email!
  • I saw The Fault in Our Stars. Oh my.
  • I switched from Feedburner to MailChimp (and loving it!) so follow on the righthand side (up at the top).
  • My dad showed me a really cool app called Gif Wrapped. It's FREE and is oh-so great for a gif-user/lover like myself.

How's your week been?
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the great dads out there.
Love you, Daddy.

Isn't it kind of sad that I really have had no more happenings to speak of? I now have two jobs and was offered two more interviews for other jobs, which I'm not sure I'll take a third, but it's still exciting. And...yeah. That was it. I'm feeling like I'm in a life slump. Meaning, I'm in a blog slump, an exercise slump, a motivational slump, and everything slump. It's pretty cruddy. I WANT OUT.

Have a great end of May!

Rewind & Review: April 21 - May 4

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
With the blur of graduation, sickness, and vacation, I honestly can't remember too much that's happened  before this past week. I do have to say that I'm so not looking forward to real life settling in again. However, I have new books to keep me happy.

Books I Received:

Books I Bought:

Books I Read: 3

What I'm Reading Now/Next:

Previous Blog Posts:
Upcoming Blog Posts:*
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Covers I'd Frame as Art
  • Where You Are
  • Review: Chapel Wars by Lindsey Leavitt
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Almost Put Down...But Didn't
  • Waiting on Wednesday #6
  • Review: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
*Subject to change

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • I visited my grandparents and they're incredibly cute. When warning my grandpa not to fall, my grandma said, "Honey, you fell once when you fell in love with me and that was enough."
  • PRINCESS DIARIES IS GOING TO HAVE A SPINOFF. I repeat, my fangirling wishes have come true.
  • I talked to Sara Raasch (author of Snow Like Ashes) and not only is she incredibly nice, a fan of gifs, and funny, but she also said that she's excited to hear how I like the book EITHER WAY. Unless she's a good liar, she was sincere in saying she wanted to hear the good or the bad.
  • I was reminded that unless they're close friends, 99.9% of the time, I'd rather hangout with adults than peers. Teenagers *makes face*
  • BEA tweets are now more popular *cries*
  • I had embarrassing mishaps such as almost getting into a stranger's car and arriving at a shady beach rental, 30 min away from where I was supposed to be.
  • I graduated.
  • NEW BOOKS

Rewind & Review: April 7 - April 20

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
Pretty uneventful week regarding books considering that I didn't request any ARCs. I simply haven't had the time, so this recap will be relatively short.

Number of Books I've Read: 3

What I'm Reading Now/Next:

Previous Blog Posts:
  • Top Ten Tuesday:
  • Review: The Hunt by Stacey Kade
  • A Look-Back
  • Top Ten Tuesday:
  • Wishlist Wednesday #5
  • Review: Chapel Wars by Lindsey Leavitt
*Subject to change

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • I found out I got whitelisted for Harlequin Teen!
  • I got a part-time job! It's not much, but hey, at least it's something. I'm basically their media guru.
  • Bad side: I HAD TO CLEAN THE BATHROOM. Now, if you don't follow me on Twitter (which you should fix now), I'll fill you in on why this is a death sentence for me: 1. I hate gross things, 2. This is a male-dominated shop (I'm the only female employee too), 3. THERE WAS A URINAL. The whole bathroom resembled a gas station's restroom. Also, I've continually held my bladder for FOUR HOURS every time I work just so I don't have to go in there. It gives me panic attacks.
  • But I survived. Barely. A cockroach waited for me afterwards.
  • Another detail to show you how much this sucked was the conversation before. The guy who was showing me what to clean went to the toilet: "Oh." Me: "What?!" Him: "You don't wanna know." *cries*
  • The bathroom was the most exciting thing in my week, sadly. Besides the awful ACTs.
  • I made cookies?

What's been happening with all of you? Any gross work stories?

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

Rewind & Review: March 24 - April 6

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
Newsflash: life is hard. It really, really is. It resembles Florida weather in a way. One moment, all is fine. Florida can be super sunny and the perfect beach day besides the intolerable heat. Then suddenly, it starts raining. But here's the thing about Florida rain: a lot of the time it rains and still looks perfectly sunny. So unless you hear it, you can glance outside and not even realize it's raining. Then it does go to the cloudy, stormy weather. The next thing you know, you can have a thunderstorm on your hands that rivals a hurricane. Where did that beach weather go? What I'm saying is that life can go from fine to what you think is fine to oh this is bad to DUCK FOR COVER in a terrifying, where's-my-peanut-butter instant.

"Where's the books?" Yeah, yeah, here you go.

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • I got the Bloomsbury Kids' 2014 Fall Catalogue! Do you know what that means? Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas, ya'll.
  • I meant to do a review this past weekend...but couldn't find time. Tis life.
  • But why didn't I do a review? BECAUSE SCHOOL IS EVIL. Save yourselves, kids.
  • At least I'm doing a read-along with Lauren and Heather. Somewhat.
  • One of my best friends is reading The Fault in Our Stars (and her sister after). Question: Does it make me a bad friend if I'm betting on if she'll cry? *shrugs*

My life.
What's happened with ya'll these last two weeks? Do you have any major school projects coming up?

Rewind & Review: March 10 - March 23

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
I wish it wouldn't be awkward to just start this feature off without any introduction sometimes. I guess I could, but I'm already the Queen of Awkward anyways, I didn't want to let too much awkwardness show. Would it be awkward to just show you the goods—okay, that was awkward, I meant BOOKS. Never mind, just...here it is.

Books I Received:
  • Alienated by Melissa Landers (SIGNED copy from my best friend)
  • Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg (also signed, thanks Emma!)

Rewind & Review: February 24 - March 9

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
I feel like every month brings on new craziness. Well, my personal life has been pretty hectic, but the bookish side has stayed a little quiet in the receiving ends. However, I'm waiting for a couple books to come in so hopefully the next R&R will be a little more exciting.

Books I Received:

Number of Books I've Completed: 2 (seems to be my number)

What I'm Reading Now/Next:

Previous Blog Posts:
  • Waiting on Wednesday: Disney-Hyperion books
  • Mini Reviews
  • Readerly Shame
  • Review: Something Real by Heather Demetrios
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) Happenings:
  • Won 2nd place at basketball championships!
  • The 2014 fall/winter catalogue for Disney-Hyperion is up for viewing on Edelweiss. So many pretties.
  • Spring break happened. However, there was no break for me.
  • Disney publicist Cassie is great and deserves all the peanut butter.
  • My best friend is getting me a signed copy of Alienated by Melissa Landers!
  • Since so many people on blogs said they wanted to be more fit in 2014 (who doesn't?) I thought about adding a feature including fitness. But...I don't know. *shrugs*
  • HEY LOOK! Remember when I talked about the non-blogging bookish friend who was going to join the blogosphere? Well, she has! Click here to visit Emily's blog and give her a big welcome!

Why does my body feel like it's being pulled so many ways, but it's not getting ANYTHING done? I blame daylight savings even though it's only been in effect for today. Anyways, I hope you all had a great start to March!

Warning: I will, yet again, be gone for a few days. This time, I'll be at my grandparents house where I don't have access to a computer, just my phone, so I'll play catch-up with commenting when I get back later this week!
