Rewind & Review: What month are we in again?

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
It's apparently March. I'm not sure if I should be excited that the semester is halfway over or terrified that we're approaching the hard assignments at the end. My spring break is technically over today, but I won't be going back to school until tomorrow (hooray for afternoon classes). Unfortunately, I've also been working on school all week. Fun.

Books I received:

Books I read [in the past two months]: 8...ish

What I'm reading now/next:

Bookish (and not-so-bookish) happenings:
  • School kills.
  • Thankfully, spring break saves...and then sadly pulls the rug out and tortures you with homework.
  • I kitten-sat for my brother and sister-in-law, which you can see on my Instagram, summer.mcdaniel
  • The two books that recently blew me away were A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and Lion Heart by A.C. Gaughen. Both were for different and various reasons.
  • Changes are coming!

As you can see, there aren't a lot of happenings. I mean, yeah, normal stuff happens and probably other things that I'm not thinking of. School accomplishments, fangirling moments, the regular. As for the changes, stay tuned.

Anyone else freaking out that it's already March?

Late October Rewind & Review

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
I did a Mid-October Rewind & Review a few weeks ago to catch up so this will only consist of the later part of October (as mentioned in the title).

Blog Posts You May Have Missed:
Note: Thanks to my sister and mother who brought back a couple books from the big Friends of the Library sale!

Things that happened:
  • I pretty much found my new favorite song. Can't decide if I should thank Gillian or blame her for the constant repeat on my phone.
  • NaNo began (well, in November, but still...) and while I'm NOT participating, I love seeing all the tweets about it. I've heard the talk of NaNo being frustrating so you all know where to find me.
  • And since my life seems to be very boring, I'll spare you from the other mundane things.
Read, write, and have a great November! Food month is upon us!

That is actually what I look like, but in feminine form.

Mid-October Rewind & Review

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
Since I skipped September, I'll be doing Rewind and Review a little differently, temporarily. Right now, I'll be catching up on October (sorry, September).

Blog Posts You May Have Missed:
Note: If you missed any September posts, they're on the sidebar as well as any reviews in my Review Archive above.

Stuff I Received:
Things That Happened:
  • I'm celebrating my ONE YEAR blogoversary! Meaning, there's a giveaway and a hoorah fest going on, which you can join by clicking the link in this post or on the sidebar. Really, why miss out?
  • I got accepted into a university! Not just a university, but definitely a top contender. *sighs happily*
  • Like I already mentioned above, I received a hardcover copy of Gallagher Girls #6, but I already have my own copy of it. Very appreciative of Disney-Hyperion...but now mulling over multiple options on what to do.
  • Super nice people again on Twitter. You all make my day.
  • The video below can show another event in my life where I...well, you'll just have to watch until the end.

Have a Happy October!

August Rewind and Review

Hosted by Shae Has Left the Room
Fall is officially here! I'm thrilled to be out of summer. I don't necessarily like the start of school, but when August comes, I start feeling a bit more orderly, sane, and secure. It's a wonderful feeling. Along with that, I also got some books, which is even better.

My Posts

A Few of My Favorite Blog Life Moments
  • The geeky moment where I excitedly fixed a post's code...thing. So it's not totally geeky since I don't really know what to call it, but I figured it out all by myself.
  • I started rereading The Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter to prepare for United We Spy's release. I'm full of nostalgia, happiness, and when I get closer to the end: sadness.
  • Reading relaxing things such as Cover Snark or reviews such as Gillian's latest one
  • My dad showed me a really great read on typography. Worth it. Here's the link
However, today is September 1st. Meaning, it's my little sister's 14th birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, S!
Aren't we cute? Well, she is at least (on the right).
Did you have a good August?

July Rewind and Review

Hosted by Bookshelvers Anonymous
Oh, July, you have done great things for me. Sure, I've had some breakdowns this month and lots of stress and guilt trips. But I also received many great books that I've been looking forward to posting about. My post and review list will be pathetically sparse though. Pretty much the lowest it's ever been so that means I'll be just adding it in one section and you just have to ignore the fact that this is all of July.

My Posts
Because I can't resist adding a post that I have already done...August bonus!

Stuff I Was Given

Stuff I Bought
  • All-American Girl by Meg Cabot ($1!)

A Few of My Favorite Blog Moments
  • I got interviewed by Emma at her blog, so sweet!
  • Encouraging people on Twitter, I love you all.
  • Stacey Kade said that she's sending me the next book in the Project Paper Dolls series when it's ready. *hugs*
  • MY BIRTHDAY!
  • When I posted Wishlist Wednesday #18, I got an amazingly sweet comment from the book's author, Natalie Richards. Then she emailed me and said she scrounged up an ARC to give me if I wanted it because she was happy that her book was on my wishlist and that I posted about it and thought it would be nice since she saw I just had a birthday. If I make another "Nicest Authors" list again, she definitely deserves to be on there.
My birthday dinner/evening :)  [Dad is not shown, I'm in the pink]
~*~

Although fall semester will be starting in a couple weeks, my awful summer biology and lab will be OVER! Hallelujah. That means I will hopefully have more time to read since I've discovered I have more time to read during actual school time than during the summer. I'm seriously loving all these new books.

How was your July? Hope you have a great fall!

June Rewind & Review

Hosted by Bookshelvers Anonymous
After May, I think June was designated "chill time" in the blogosphere for me. Excluding the awesome book event I went to, I really cut back on blogging related things since life kicked up a notch with work and school and so much other stuff that it's been a blur. Leaving from where I left off last Rewind & Review (remember, I extended May's a little into June), here's what has been happening.

My Reviews
  • The Good, the Meh, and the DNF (three mini reviews with different reactions to them)
  • ...as you can see, I didn't review a lot in June (but don't forget that I did have another that was attached to May's!), but I'm determined to make that up in July.
My Meme Posts
Stuff I Was Given
  • OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Hydu (Simon Pulse via Edelweiss)
  • Gift card from Jen because although I was doing it as a gift, she still wanted to pay me back for getting her a signed Siege & Storm at the Fierce Reads tour. She is SO incredibly sweet, you have no idea. If you have never talked to her or read her blog, you are missing out in life, my friend.

Stuff I Bought

A Few of My Favorite Blog Moments
  • Author Jessica Brody and I talked quite a bit before I met her at the Fierce Reads event...
  • ...where we hugged, chatted, and became absolute best friends...
  • ...and it's where I met LEIGH BARDUGO and got signed copies and took pictures with all the authors and I got to squeal about it all in my recap
  • Once again, really sweet bloggers on Twitter
  • And my not so favorite: being overwhelmingly busy, but that will hopefully change soon!
~*~
I've had better Junes, but this one wasn't exactly horrible...just more of a frustrating blur. I'm expecting big things with July, especially with it holding my birthday!

Hope you all have a lovely July!

Rewind and Review - May and a little more

Hosted by Bookshelvers Anonymous
Hello, lovelies! So I haven't done one in a while since for whatever reason, I didn't see that Shelver was switching to a weekly thing so I was taken aback and didn't have time to prepare anything. This post will be longer than usual, adding a couple June items in there. I have been extremely excited to squeal over May!

  • Maid to Match by Deanne Gist ($.50)
A Few of My Favorite Blog Moments
  • Getting another author to agree to do an interview, which resulted in me learning more about the series!
  • Having a favorite blogger of mine on here. I love interviews, if you can't tell. And she is the absolute sweetest!
  • Meeting some more fantastic and great bloggers through the internet. You guys are so nice.
  • My Nicest Authors list which resulted in the sweetest tweets by the authors on the list. THAT is why they are on there. I couldn't stop smiling all day.
  • All the BEA tweets on Twitter AND getting things from BEA, thanks to my sister.
  • Finding out about Better World Books...although that might be a bad thing for my self-control.
  • Realization that I had more comments wishing me luck on my ACT than the actual review because that's how sweet everyone is.
  • Update: I took my ACTs yesterday and no matter how I do, I know I literally did EVERYTHING (6 hours each Saturday for a month and major prepping during the week) I could to prepare. I don't exactly feel confident that I got the score I wanted (where I live, if I get a 29, I get 100% of tuition paid for in my choice of school if it's in my state. Right now, I have 75%from last time).
~*~

After this fantastic month and beginning of June, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Bloggers, without a doubt, are some of the nicest people I have ever been in contact with. Authors, at least the ones I have had Twitter conversations with, are as well. I'll be laying off the thrift store, but I do know the rest of June will be fantastic as well (I see a second author event in my future!). However, I am immensely grateful for everything that I have received this month and experienced and for the people I have talked to.

I hope the rest of your June is lovely and you have a marvelous summer!

*Due to all the books that I have accumulated this month and hectic schedule I have, I didn't post pictures or include links. Sorry!*

STAY TUNED:  Tomorrow I will broadcast my post for the Attack of the Assassins blog tour where I will be interviewing the author, Robin LaFevers.

  • Meeting you guys and interacting. I'm free to talk about anything (especially bookish things) anytime. You all make me happy, happy, happy!
Happy, happy, happy!

Hopefully I didn't miss something very important. However, I think February was a pretty good month. I hope yours was great as well and even more so in March.

Happy Reading!
